It is more than capable of handling my sister's intense photo-editing tasks, and just generally now zips along.So first we took a pair of heavy duty suction cups and separated the glass from the LCD (it's held on with magnets, it's not difficult). My sister is a photo editor and lives engulfed in memory-intensive Adobe products.
Apple seems to be happy with releasing iMac updates once per calendar year. installed ssd on 2009 imac - took 20minuts installoed ssd on 2012 took 20 minuts. I simply told the install program to put the new operating system on the SSD and off we went (we'd backed up all important files on another external drive ahead of time).I replaced the old hard drive that came with the computer with a snazzy new SSD, or solid state drive.
